Why Zizzy?

Why Zizzy?

Why Zizzy?

We are Zizzy but not the Zizzi Restaurant!

As you probably already know from our first blog similar to every start-up the beginning was not easy for us. We  spend a substantial time putting the grounds of our business until the point where we had to start thinking about a company name, logo and brand colours. That was the nasty party for us…

After doing a comprehensive competitor analysis we had a list of names of every mobile bar caterer in our area. The next step was to brainstorm our own ideas for a company name. Well, now imagine four completely different personalities (3 men and 1 woman) shouting names at each other for hours… As you would probably guess that didn’t work at all!

We tried the most absurd thing that I guess everyone have done at least once in their lives- to open google and type “how to…pick a name for a company”. Clearly the most trivial advice came up including:

  • Choose a comforting or familiar name that conjures up pleasant memories so customers respond to your business on an emotional level.
  • Don’t pickname that is long or confusing.
  • Stay away from cute puns that only you understand.
  • Don’t use the word “Inc.” after your nameunless your company is actually incorporated.

We didn’t find any of this particularly helpful. And then suddenly among the chaos and the complete discouragement that we will ever pick a name for our business, someone said we need to have “z” in the name. Apparently “z” is one of the most memorable letters and it would make customers want to repeat it over again.

Now at least we knew what the first letter will be. Some of the names we had on our minds were Zest, Zebra, Zero, Zaffirs, Zizzyva and many others. At the end we decided to be called Zizzy but not because we wanted to copy the famous Zizzi Restaurant,  just because this was the only name we all agreed on. Hallelujah!

The next step of our long journey was choosing brand colours and a logo. Luckily this turned out to be much easier may be because we were already very tired of arguing and just wanted it to be done. Here is what we came up with:

Although we thought we were 100% prepared for setting up our own company, it turned out we were not. However, knowing that every small effort you make will one day pay off is the best feeling in the world and we all started to enjoy it now…
